DeSoto Family Theatre presents Shenandoah-The Musical Production Dates: June 18 - 27, 2010 Auditions March 27, 2010 Audition Workshop March 20, 2010 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. $30
***Boys & Girls (9am - Noon) Ages 8 - 13 for Robert (The Boy) and Gabriel (African-American boy and best friend to Robert) Both roles have feature solos and duets – GIRLS will be considered.[SOPRANO] Casting will include possible Confederate/Union soldiers and Ensemble.
***Adults & Teens (1pm - ?) Ages 14 - Up Prepare 16 bars of a Broadway song or a song from the show will be taught. Be prepared to read from script, sing and dance.
A Civil War musical set in the Shenandoah Valley, the play deals with the purposes and effects of war. This colorful and dramatic saga revolves around a strong willed Virginia farmer, Charlie Anderson, who tries to keep his family neutral during the Civil War. But the Union forces and the Confederates see things only in Union blue or Confederate gray so the family is inevitably swept up in the conflict. Their story is a heart-warming and heart rending portrayal of the upheaval that left wounds on the land and people. Yet, hope can lead us home.
